This weekend Swindon Powertrain were providing engine support services to teams running customer engine programs at the opening round of the BTCC championship. This service is nothing new to the engineers who attend every race weekend, but the first round of the season is always a little bit more exciting as teams unveil what they have been working on in the off season. The atmosphere was elevated further this year thanks to the introduction of the Hybrid energy system, replacing the success ballast which has been in place since 2004.
After qualifying fourth on the grid on Saturday, Tom Ingram ran an impressive race one winning the season opener in the Excelr8 Motorsport i40 powered by its Hyundai engine developed with Swindon Powertrain. An impressive result for the engines first race.
Thanks to a very successful design and development year at Swindon Powertrain where our team have proven, again, that powertrain developed by a team fuelled with passion can succeed on their first outing against the most competitive grid. Of course, thanks must go to the Hyiundai Team, Exceler8 and Tom Ingram.
