About Swindon Powertrain

Established for over 50 years, Swindon Powertrain has delivered a wide spectrum of activity from concept design and development through to manufacturing of bespoke powertrains and components.

Swindon Powertrain was established in 1971 as a high-performance engine specialist.

Throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s the business specialised in the maintenance of the hugely successful Cosworth DFV Formula 1 engine. The innovation, accuracy and urgency required to deliver successful Formula 1 programs led to the diversification and delivery of numerous highly successful motorsport projects across the world. Our success in touring cars and rally was acknowledged by the wider automotive industry. Swindon Powertrain was therefore selected to partner with a range of premium OEMs, delivering numerous successful projects, including the cylinder head design and manufacture for the Mini JCW.

Alongside successful motorsport and automotive projects, Swindon Powertrain anticipated the rise of alternative methods of vehicle propulsion. Having conducted extensive R&D in vehicle electrification, Swindon Powertrain now offers market leading EV powertrains, products, and services to OEM’s, vehicle specialists and enthusiasts.
